At a time when iPhone fever was at its peak, the desire for the latest model was undeniable, people didn’t even need to see the iPhone to know why they wanted it.

So, we pretended Cuba Gooding Jr. was coming to Australia to direct an ad for Optus. Then staged a fake casting session with Cuba directing unsuspecting Aussie actors as they reacted to an empty podium, imagining the new iPhone. Over 40 actors auditioned, while we fed Cuba lines through an earpiece, the actor’s unfiltered auditions became the ad itself. Cuba was drinking ice teas with 14 sugars. It was all a bit unhinged.

This was Cuba’s call out tape to get actors to audition for the new ad.
